On June 18 I gave a talk on the topic “awe” to the Capital Unitarian congregation in Victoria.

I prefaced the talk with a brief story (5 minutes) about an experience where I felt awe. I told about an intense time I spent at the Adams River in the Shuswap, during a peak salmon run. You can find the 5 minute story here:

A short while after I told the salmon run story, I gave my talk on awe. It’s 21 minutes, and is illustrated with plenty of photos, and a few more stories about my experiences with awe. The main talk can be found here:

Sunrise and Camas, Beacon Hill Park, Victoria. For those unfamiliar with Victoria and its native plants, the roots of camas were an important staple in the diet of Lekwungen peoples. Camas grow in association with Garry Oak meadows.
